In February of 2007, after seeing multiple videos on Multitouch (especially those of Jeff Han’s) – I was intrigued and permanently set on building my own Multitouch screen. After seeing a small wiki-entry on how to design your own screen; along with photographs of Jeff’s table, I decided to give it a try and build my own. A small forums called Nuigroup.com (Natural User Interface) was just popping up and others that were dedicated in developing and building Multitouch surfaces communicated daily via the NUI Forums.
In February 2007 I set out to design my own functional Multitouch Prototype; and that dream was accomplished in March 2007 after days and days of constant testing, reading, building and designing.
In the following are some small videos of my Multitouch Prototype in action. There are also some still shots of the setup. Most of the applications shown will give you an idea of how Multitouch works and how it might be attributed to other types of programs.
